别把TOEFL作文写成改错题：经典语法错误别犯

本篇文章整理了十个典型的托福作文错误，这些错误同时也是十个ACT文章改错高频考点。下面的单句都是从我的托福作文学生日常练习中摘录的句子，ACT的题目均来自OG或真题。敢不敢试试下面的错误你的作文中都有木有，敢不敢看看下面的ACT题目是不是都能一路绿灯？

 

一、名词单复数

托福作文错误重现：

原句：In the past, few student go to this university because of its badreputation of professor.

修改：In the past, few students goto this university because of its bad reputation of professors.

ACT文章改错题目：

During the early morning hours of October28, 1965, engineers stationed 630 feet above the ground made carefulmeasurements for the days work.

A. NO CHANGE

B. days’

C. day’s

D. days’s

【答案：C 。人家题目中都说了是1965年的那天清晨，再清楚不过要特指那天的工作好不啦。】

 

二、主谓一致

托福作文错误重现：

原句：My aunt worked at sales department which only have five persons.

修改：My aunt worked at sales department which only has five persons.

原句：Good education from the teachers often attract good students.

修改：Good education from the teachers often attractsgood students.

ACT文章改错题目：

The collective sound of wolves howling invarious keys also make the pack seem larger and more powerful topotential enemies than it really is.

A. NO CHANGE

B. have the effect of making

C. are intended to make

D. makes

【答案：D。主语the collective sound是单数，谓语动词需加-s。你做对了吗？】

 

三、时态

托福作文错误重现：

原句：Her parents thought that this is my aunt’s fault, so they complainto the school.

修改：Her parents thought that this wasmy aunt’s fault, so they complained tothe school.

ACT文章改错题目：

Beans hang on the cornstalks,and squash vines had sprawled everywhere.

A. NO CHANGE

B. sprawl

C. sprawled

D. could have sprawled

【答案：B。表示悬挂的hang-hung-hung，这里是hang的现在时噢，后面自然时态一致。hang的用法你熟悉吗，这道题是不是有点tricky?】

 

四、标点

托福作文错误重现：

原句：I loved every exciting movement that the sportsmen make, those kindsof movement make me very relaxed.

修改：I loved every exciting movement that the sportsmen make. Those kinds of movement make me very relaxed.

ACT文章改错题目：

They escape back the earth in the capsuleby falling off the edge of the moon, landing in the ocean, they bob arounduntil a passing ship finally rescues them.

A. NO CHANGE

B. moon after landing

C. moon. Landing

D. moon, after landing

【答案：C。They escape已是一句话，不加连词或分号怎敢一句话直接就就贴在前面呢。这题没问题吧！】

 

五、双谓语

托福作文错误重现：

原句：One day, I watched this program talk about the habits of lions.

修改：One day, I watched this program talkingabout the habits of lions.

ACT文章改错题目：

Each year my high school hostsinternational exchange students join our senior class.

A. students, he or she is invited to

B. students who join

C. students they join

D. students, who are joining

【答案：B。host和join是两个动词，应该有自己的归属，join不能来捣乱。主句中主谓是high school hosts，从句中主谓是who join。掌握了基本规则，题目不难吧。】

 

六、句子残缺

托福作文错误重现：

原句：Obviously, the professor’s argument disproves its counterpart in thereading. Even though the reading passage suggests that Chevalier is very poor.

修改：Obviously, the professor’s argument disproves its counterpart in thereading, even though the reading passagesuggests that Chevalier is very poor.

原句：Despite the statement in the reading that eco-certified wood is moreexpensive than normal wood. The professor contends that American customers willcare about the price only when price difference is too big.

修改：Despite the statement in the reading that eco-certified wood is moreexpensive than normal wood, the professorcontends that American customers will care about the price only when pricedifference is too big.

ACT文章改错题目：

It is comforting to know that the Save-U Laundromat.And its people are always nearby.

A. NO CHANGE

B. Laundromat. Its

C. Laundromat and that its

D. Laundromat and its

【答案：D。know that…后面的宾语从句不完整，Save-U Laundromat缺少谓语动词。要熟悉从句依然是完整的句子，不要掉以轻心。】

 

七、非谓语动词

托福作文错误重现：

原句：If you choosing an unsecure job, you will always worry about thestability of your job.

修改：If you choose an unsecure job,you will always worry about the stability of your job.

原句：The reading passage contends that read fewer literature books hasbad effect for reading public, culture and the future of literature.

修改：The reading passage contends that readingfewer literature books has bad effect for reading public, culture and thefuture of literature.

原句：The professor proves that this claim is not correct by pointing out thatdestroy fossils is better than bury them in the ground.

修改：The professor proves that this claim is not correct by pointing outthat destroying fossils is better than burying them in the ground.

ACT文章改错题目：

Imagining all these people, it is that Iknow they remain there even after I have left.

A. NO CHANGE

B. It being that I imagine all thesepeople, they

C. Imagining all these people, they

D. I imagine that all these people

【答案：D。imagine的动作是I发出的，主动关系，原句的逻辑主语错误。非谓语动词可是SAT/ACT语法考查的重点，不可以出问题的。】

 

八、连词

托福作文错误重现：

原句：My brother had only learned concepts of the textbooks before, thus afterthe experiment, he gradually knew better about knowledge on the books.

修改：My brother had only learned concepts of the textbooks before, but after the experiment, he gradually knewbetter about knowledge on the books.

ACT文章改错题目：

The computer is probably sick, unlessthe diagnosis may be that the computer has a virus.

A. NO CHANGE

B. except

C. and

D. as if

【答案：C。理解句子后，发现“除非”在这里行不通，用and并列连接即可。无论是写作还是选择题，都要注重语义啊。】

 

九、代词

托福作文错误重现：

原句：People really want to achieve the dreams because dream is relatedwith your future happiness.

修改：People really want to achieve the dreams because dream is relatedwith their future happiness.

讨论对象变来变去

原句：He learned a lot of knowledge from the teacher and her scoresincreased quickly.

修改：He learned a lot of knowledge from the teacher and his scores increased quickly.

ACT文章改错题目：

Teachers provide in-depth languageunderstanding, and children are rewarded for improving his or hercommunication skills.

【答案：D。Children为复数，用they/their来指代。如果代词掌握好了，是不是很简单噢！】

 

十、被动

托福作文错误重现：

原句：Finally, the author of the reading claims that American woodcompanies need to certified only when they sole to foreign market.

修改：Finally, the author of the reading claims that American woodcompanies need to be certified only whenthey are sold to foreign market.

原句：Finally, the professor asserts that Chevalier was escaped byclimbing through the roof, whereas the author of the reading claims that hesaved from a prison by his friends’ bribery.

修改：Finally, the professor asserts that Chevalier escaped by climbing through the roof, whereas theauthor of the reading claims that he was savedfrom a prison by his friends’ bribery.

ACT文章改错题目：

It is a social music that performedat weddings, birthday parties, and feast.

A. NO CHANGE

B. music in which it is performed

C. music, performing

D. music, performed

【答案：D。music和perform之间是被动的关系吧，这里没有完整的被动形式，只能选择表被动的分词performed了。最后一题，你选对了吗？】

有没有发现，其实ACT文章改错中的语法题目并不难，基本就是作文中常写句子的变形呢？

英语的学习是连续的，而非间断的。不同的考试设置，最基本的出发点都是在考查不同水平的英语技能。这一点，对于无论托福、ACT还是SAT，都是通用的。切不能认为，我这一阶段先随便考考，下一阶段再努力好了。但是如果下一阶段需要补上一阶段的漏洞，花费更大的力气，又何苦呢？踏实搞定作文中的基本语法，轻松通关ACT文章改错，何乐而不为？
